When I started using Korean skincare products, I wanted to use them all at a time, which is a big mistake. One of the things I wanted to do was to use the J. One Hana Cream in the morning and the Bonvivant Illuminator Pudding-Like Water Gel Mask at night. Even though the Bonvivant Mask is meant to be use at night and the J. One Hana Cream as a moisturizer, I didn’t want to add any unnecessary products to my daily skincare routine. Don’t get me wrong, both products are high-rated and serve different purposes. However, I didn’t want to use products from completely different brands the same day. It may seem weird, but it’s actually recommended to use products from the same brand for better results, so I said to myself: Let’s make a deal. I proceeded to conclude the following: You are going to use the J. One Hana Cream until you run out of it and once you are finished with it, you are going to use your Bonvivant products in your skincare routine. I made that statement because I knew that if I permitted myself to combine different products at once, I would do it again and again. At the end, I knew the result would be a disaster and my skincare routine wouldn’t be a routine anymore, so I decided not to do it.

My favorite step in my skincare routine is cleansing. As you may know, the Korean skincare routine includes double-cleansing, which means to use an oil-based cleanser first and then proceed to cleanse a second time with a water-based cleanser. However, my favorite cleansing step is the one that involves the water-based cleanser. I like to feel free of impurities and sweat, specially sweat. I personally don't use makeup at all, in fact, I don't remember the last time I wore makeup. I don't particularly enjoy cleansing with an oil-based cleanser because I live in a tropical and humid zone, and here you sweat every day of your life. Just to give you an idea of how serious the situation is, I'll like to let you know how the weather is feeling today. Note that this post was written on February, as you can see above, and all the photos I see on Instagram are photos of people playing in the snow. However, where I live it's sunny and hot, really hot outside. I walk about ten minutes yesterday with no shade whatsoever. When I finally arrived to my destination I realized I was sweating like a pig (not that I haven't notice) and was completely dehydrated. In fact, I had to stop in front of the door I was supposed to enter to catch my breath and drink water, and no I'm not overreacting. So now imagine what it is to arrive to your house all sweaty and knowing that the first step of your skincare routine is to use an oil-based cleanser, horrible I know. Some of you may ask, why do I use an oil-based cleanser if I don't wear makeup. Well, the answer is simple, oil repels oil. If I skip the oil-based cleanser and only use a water-based cleanser, all the oil and impurities won't be cleansed completely. In the end, I'll still have impurities and oil on my skin. In conclusion, always use an oil-based cleanser even if your skin is extremely oily. In addition, if I use the cleansers the right way, my skin feels refreshed and free of oil, sweat, dirt, and impurities. Here are the cleansers I use in my current skincare routine:
Which cleansers (oil and water-based) do you use in your skincare? Let me know in the comments :) I needed to buy a book for my Ornithology (the scientific study of birds) class, so I visited Amazon and ordered the book: Puerto Rico's Birds in Photographs (Spanish edition) for $3 with free shipping. I know what you're thinking, why is this important? Right? Well, at first I struggled to find the book. I looked on Ebay and Amazon looking for the lowest price. Ebay was no good, and Amazon was too expensive, almost $18 for a book from 2006. I keep looking on Amazon and found out something interesting, the book is retailed for $17.95 on the Amazon's web page. However, when I clicked on the others sellers button, it's just so happen that the book is retailed for $3 and was eligible for Amazon Prime. If you do the math, is $15 below the original price, now that's a good deal. Lesson learned, look for other options when you think something is above your budget. There is always a retailer that sells the products with the lowest price. Don't tie yourself to a brand, retailer, or company, just because you are used to buy from them. Where do you buy for skin care products? What's your favorite online store? Comment below! How to use: After cleansing, take 2 to 3 pumps of the peeling gel and apply onto the face. Let it sit for 2 minutes, then massage until dead skin residues appear. Rinse off with warm water. Review: This product literally takes out all your dead skin whithout leaving anything behind. After using this product my skin felt soft and smooth. I've never felt my skin that way before. Afterwards, my skin didn't feel greasy and my skin was brighter and radiant. Review from Corinth Suarez: youtu.be/h7NxKmqQdH8 My first great investment in Korean skincare products was the SKINvincible Vault Box from Memebox. There was a sale for this vault on Black Friday. The original price of this box was $298, but it was reduced to $150. I watched videos on YouTube of this vault and many others, however, I decided to choose this one because I understood that it was the one that better suited my necessities. The vault included sixteen full-size products, all of them with great reviews. After I ordered the vault, I waited patiently for the package to arrive. I checked my email every day hoping to find the shipping information, but every day I found nothing. After a long period of time, three weeks more or less, my package finally arrived. I can’t explain the excitement I felt when I opened the box to find Memebox signature pink confetti. I started to dig into the box until I finally found the first item, the J. One Hana Cream. I opened the cream to find cute little white pearls of moisturizer inside, I was so simple and yet so interesting, but I couldn’t stop there. I keep digging and find more little wonders until I got to the last product, the Neogen Code 9 Lemon Green Caviar Essence & Tox Tightening Pack. I decided to open the lid of the container to touch with my fingers the exfoliating part of the pads. It didn’t impress me and it was kinda disappointing because I had high hopes for this product. However, after I tried the product, everything changed. The exfoliating part of the pad was incredible, it was gentle on the skin and I felt how the pad got all those dead skin cells. After exfoliating, I proceeded to use the other side of the pad, which had the purpose of massaging the essence into the skin. When I finished, my skin felt soft and moisturize. This product is currently one of my holy grails and I can’t get enough of it. I learned my lesson, to never judge a book by it’s cover. 9 I recently discovered the cosmetic love store and I'm impress. They got me when the first thing I saw is that they offer International Free Shipping, which is awesome. Also, with every order they send you Free samples, which is awesome too! Wait, wait it doesn't end there, they also sell samples for very low prices. In addition, you can buy up to 20 samples of the same product for just $5. I was so amaze to see that they were selling Two Benton Honest Cleansing Foams, which contains 150ml of product each for just $11.45 when the original price for a single product is $11. If you do the math, you'll be paying $5.73 for each cleanser. If you're doubting whether is a good idea to buy this product let me tell you that I've using this cleanser for the past month and I absolutely love it. I personally like this product because it's gentle on the skin, it's easy to use, and it has little fragrance. This cleanser is for all skin types, I have combination skin so this is the perfect product for me. I use this cleanser in my morning and evening skin care routine after using an oil-based cleanser. While my skin is still damp I wet my hands and dispense a dime size amount of product in the palm of my hand. Then I rub my hands until the product transforms into a luxurious foam. Then I proceed to massage my skin using circular motions. The only thing bad I have to say about this product it's that it expires after one year and eight months after the manufacturer's date of issue. Have in mind that the usual cleanser expires three years after the manufacturer's date. However, it clearly says on the box that it expires six months after opening the product, which I think is a short amount of time. On the bright side, it contains 150ml of product when the usual cleanser carries 120ml. Also, it's called the Benton Honest Cleansing Foam because the product is free of harmful ingredients, like petroleum as it's raw material. Maybe this is the reason that the expiration date is shorter than other cleansers. Would you try this product? Comment below! These masks are perfect for the new Korean trend, one mask per day. These masks only costs $1 each at Memebox, which is a good deal for your pocket. On Black Friday I bought a total a fifty masks for $25, if you do the math, I only paid 50 cents for each mask. I'll like to add that in addition of the fifty masks, I got two clay masks samples and a bear headband, which it's super cute. The masks included in the offer are the following:
Each masks has it's own unique scent (which I enjoy) and purposes, which are describe below:

Information: The sheets are crafted with 100% Eucalyptus-derived elements that gently adhere to the skin without any irritation. Review: These are simple masks, but each one of them contain ingredients that targets different skin concerns. This masks are great for the new korean trend; one mask per day. However, if you want a moisturizing mask, I would recommend to use another type of mask. I would suggest the Oozoo Face Injection Mask - Hydro Lift or the Donkey Milk Skin Gel Mask Aqua. Review from Chimes Ling: youtu.be/5_LOTOdDgPU?t=23s I bought some binoculars on Amazon for my Ornithology class at $15. Yesterday I went bird watching with the binoculars and found out they are terrible. I could see a thing with them, they had no focus, and I didn't even saw a bird with them. I was better off using only my eyes. I ended up writing to the company asking them for a refund. This was a novelty for me, because this is the first time I request a refund. Luckily, I had no problems returning the binoculars. I bought them because they were the cheapest ones, compact, and light weighted. Also, it had the magnification I was looking for and the description said that they were for birding. I didn't let this bad experience discouraged me, so I keep looking on Amazon for better binoculars. I had a few on my Ornithology wish list on Amazon at $35, but they had mix reviews or none, and they didn't have any warranty. I figure it wasn't convincing enough, especially considering how bad the first binoculars were. It was decided, I wasn't going consider the binoculars on my Ornithology wish list as an option. Suddenly, without making any effort, some binoculars appeared on the suggestions below. I clicked the image and read the description and concluded that they were just what I was looking for, expect that they were retailed for $50, which is a lot more than $15. I keep reading the description until a got to the last sentence and it turns out that these binoculars have a 18 months warranty (that is a year and a half!). Also, it had seven reviews and they were all five stars. All the customers were satisfied with their orders, and some of them even repurchased. I have to admit, even though $50 is a hard it for my pocket, I prefer to $15 more on a product with warranty and a five star rating than in one that have none of these. In addition, the binoculars original price is $65, so technically it's a good deal considering that the price has been reduced and it comes with a nice warranty. I purchased the binoculars yesterday, right after I tested the first one, and I can wait to have them in my hands. I'll see how the work and I will let you know in another post. Wish me luck! Review: This mask is super hydrating. My skin was soaked with product after I took it off. For the price it has a lot of product, it's definitely worth it. Review from BYCARRIE: youtu.be/KD9mctnC-hg?t=3m37s |
